The Week That Was: #41 of 2018

Last week I thought I was on the way to taking more time & making more effort to escape from Facebook for most of my serious writing.  Easier said than done.  In part, my 'failure' is a reflection of the pace of my life.  I'm too busy 'doing' to have time for writing about it all.

Another reason for my lapse is that Facebook is a very convenient tool.  Blogger works on  my Android, but not quite as easily or quickly.  And commenting on these posts is even harder.

In my mind, my weeks actually start at 2:00 a.m. on Mondays.  That's when I get up -- after four to seven hours sleep -- to head in for my shift with the babies in the NICU.  When I finally call it a day, it's typically 20+ hours later.

Much of what I'd hoped to share here in these weekly reports are instances of small kindnesses.  Jill has worried that I might come off as "better than thou"* if I share too many.  On the contrary, I share them merely to remind anyone who cares to read them that practicing kindness can actually be quite easy, that we can all help make the world a better place for everyone if we choose.

* I don't really care about praise or accolades.  Honestly, I don't care whether people like me or not.  I do care whether they think I'm honest, open-minded, kind, fair, etc., because if they don't, I need to do some self-evaluation.

I'm hardly perfect, but I strive to be a better person, even if just a little bit at a time. In my email this morning:

Dear MICHAEL KRUCHOSKI,

You have the following message in the [USAA] Claim Communication Center:

Good Day Sir. Hope you are having great day and thank you for being so patience through the claim process. You are correct. We overpaid your claim by $250.00. It would be greatly appreciated if you can refund it.

We'd already told them we're more than happy to do so. WWJD?
